The Restaurant | Virgin Media One | Episode 1 featuring Celebrity Chef, Una Healy

We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Virgin Media One’s ‘The Restaurant’ as official wine partner for the new season, starting Thursday 12th 9pm. Our Wine Director, Master of Wine Lynne Coyle worked closely with the restaurant team to pair each exciting dish on the celebrity’s menus with a unique and delicious wine from the O’Briens portfolio of over 800 exclusive wines.

During service, the celebrities get instant feedback in the kitchen to their menu from remote cameras and microphones covering the dining room. So the pressure was on for Lynne to choose wines that would not only match the food but also delight the diners by enhancing their overall experience!

To win the wines from tomorrow’s episode – follow us on Instagram @OBriensWine and comment under our picture about episode one! (The one with Una Healy in it 🙂 ) (Ts&Cs apply)

Check in with us every week for a first look at all the dishes and wines before the show airs and follow us on twitter & Instagram with your thoughts and comments on the show and wine pairings.

All the wines on the show can be found in your local O’Briens and online and all have special prices for the next few weeks!

Picouto de Cima | Vinho Verde, Portugal
“Made exclusively from the Arinto grape variety, this is a very good quality Vinho Verde with a well-defined stone & citrus fruit profile and perfectly – balanced acidity that will cut through the garlic butter and rich crab meat.” – Wine Director, Lynne Coyle MW

Delheim Chenin Blanc Wild Ferment | Stellenbosch, South Africa
“This beautifully textured Chenin Blanc is fermented using wild yeasts from the vineyard, giving a complex aroma profile. The palate is full of stone fruit, grapefruit & subtle smoky notes from 9 months in oak.” – Wine Director, Lynne Coyle MW

Cap Royal | Bordeaux Supérieur, France
“Made by prestigious Château Pichon Baron in Bordeaux, this has ripe black fruits, tobacco and mocha aromas as well as sweet vanilla spice and toast from the oak ageing. The palate is dry with firm tannins that are an ideal pairing for a good cut of beef.” – Wine Director, Lynne Coyle MW

Robert Weil Riesling Trocken | Rheingau, Germany
“Robert Weil are Riesling experts and this is benchmark dry Rheingau Riesling. Floral, aromatic and bright with notes of green apple and pear along with a crisp refreshing acidity and a long finish.” – Wine Director, Lynne Coyle MW
